Cambric is a tightly woven cotton that sits between lawn and khaddar in weight. It holds a press, it does not go transparent in sunlight, and it takes embroidery without puckering. This one is straight cut, falling below the knee, with a tonal embroidered placket in the same black as the ground.

That tonal choice is what lets it work in an office at nine in the morning and at a wedding at nine at night, without looking like one outfit trying to do two jobs.
