Pure Silk Dupatta — Antique Gold

The piece that rescues a plain suit.

Pure mulberry silk, about two and a half metres, with a hand-knotted fringe rather than a machine-serged edge. Knotting is the slower way to finish a dupatta, and it is usually a fair signal of what the rest of the piece is like.

The colour is the real argument here. Antique gold stays warm under tube light, where a brighter gold turns yellow and cheapens whatever it is worn with. Most Pakistani homes and halls are lit with cool white tube light, so a gold that behaves under it is worth more than a gold that only works in daylight.

It is sold on its own rather than as part of a three-piece — the thing you buy when a suit you already own came with a dupatta you never liked.
